When Pearl City Hawaii lost the bid for Olympic bid

About us

Pearl City, Hawaii – It’s been more than 50 years since Pearl City won the bid to host the 2020 Winter Olympic Games.

But the community of just over 3,000 people in the capital of Kona has been looking to put its Olympic dreams to the test ever since.

Now, the community is looking for ways to get involved.

“The first thing I want to do is help Pearl City get back on track,” said Pearl City Mayor Richard Cate.

“I think we have a lot of work to do and we are looking to make a positive impact on the community.”

Mayor Cate and other city officials said they have already begun a process to help Pearl County rebuild its Olympic bid, including creating a new Olympic Stadium, a new golf course and a new playground.

He said they are also working on ways to provide more resources to Pearl City residents who lost their Olympic bid.

“There is a lot going on, a lot happening,” said Cate, who’s the mayor of Pearl City since 2010.

“We want to be involved, we want to make sure that Pearl City gets back on its feet and we want Pearl City to get back to the Olympic Games.”

Cate said he believes Pearl City is a unique case because it has an Olympic bid history that dates back to 1972.

“We have an Olympic history dating back to that time, and that’s why we are the first in the nation to go for a bid,” he said.

“It’s just a testament to how strong the community was behind Pearl City and the people of Pearl.

I think the community rallied around Pearl City when we were in the Olympics, but it was Pearl City who really rallied behind Pearl when we lost the bids in 1992.”

A new Olympic stadium is expected to open in 2021, but Cate said it will likely take at least another five to 10 years for the new venue to open.

The mayor said Pearl’s Olympic bid has been delayed four times.

The Olympic Park, where the games are to be held, has been shuttered for the last two years because of a shortage of funds.

Cate hopes the Olympic Park will open up again soon.

He hopes to have a new stadium open and have it ready to open by 2022.

The mayor said he also wants to help the community rebuild.

He wants to do a lot for Pearl City’s future, and I think that Pearl has a lot to prove.

“Hopefully we can put this whole thing on the back burner and get Pearl City back to where it should be,” he added.

“That’s the hope.”
