With Pearl Jam live from Pearl Slam Live 2017 tour kicking off on March 3 in Seattle, Washington, we asked Pearl Jam guitarist/vocalist Jeff Tweedy why the band would return to the stage for its annual summer tour in 2018.
Tweedy was asked about his personal connection to Pearl Jam and why he is excited to see the band in concert.
“I’m very excited because I was a fan of Pearl Jam from the very beginning,” Tweedy said.
“The thing that’s always been cool about Pearl Jam is they’re not a band that can be pigeonholed as one kind of band or another.
The band is really, really multifaceted.
They’re like any other musical genre, it’s all different styles.
The fact that Pearl Jam has come together in the past year and been able to do what they’ve done is amazing.
The way they’ve always managed to do it is amazing, too.
And the fact that they’re still doing it, it means they’re able to continue to evolve and push themselves.”
Pearl Jam, who is currently touring Australia, Japan, and Europe, have already been announced as playing three dates at the Gorge Amphitheater in California and one at the San Diego Comic-Con.
The 2017 tour kicked off with a sold-out show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on July 11.
The following year, Pearl Jam played two shows at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on August 7 and August 10.
The two-night run ended on August 22 when the band left for New York City.
